Maids and Foreign Workers Kissing and Hugging at Ang Mo Kio Underpass Draw Public Concern

Concerns have been raised about the “unsightly” behaviour of some maids and foreign workers at the Ang Mo Kio MRT station underpass.

Some members of the public have expressed their concern over what they deem as too much PDA (Public Display of Affection).

The gatherings, which reportedly take place every weekend, have grown in size such that the underpass has become a “hot spot” for picnics and PDA.

The foreign workers congregate them from about 10am on Saturdays and Sundays, until about 7pm.

Over the weekend, at least 4 “maid-and-Bangla” couples were seen kissing and hugging there in the evening.

One Ang Mo Kio resident, 36-year-old housewife Anita, says she’s concerned about the PDA being a bad influence on her kids.

She said the influx of foreign workers started from about a year ago.

“They will have lunch at the park nearby. Sometimes they can get noisy until I can hear it from my home.”

Some maids, however, have a different take on the issue.

They say they are just eating and chatting and don’t interfere with residents going about their daily activities.

And, most of them have to leave by evening-time so they can be home by about 6pm to 7pm when their off-day “curfew” ends.
