[VIDEO] Man Armed with Axe and Sickle Stole a Car before Crashing it Near Woodlands Checkpoint

An armed 43-year-old man was arrested near Woodlands Checkpoint after a standoff with police officers.

The incident took place earlier today at about 1.30pm.

The man is suspected to held a woman at knifepoint along Upper Bukit Timah Road before stealing her car.

Police believe he had been under the influence of drugs at the time.

The armed car thief was eventually tackled and subdued by police officers near Woodlands Checkpoint.

In videos shared online, the man was seen waving a sickle at police officers during a tense standoff near the checkpoint.

He was later encircled by police officers and arrested.

 

 

 

Suspected drug paraphernalia, controlled drugs, a knife, an axe and a sickle were found in his possession.

Police have arrested the man on charges of armed robbery, possession of offensive weapons, and suspected drug-related offences.
